Orb weavers are the group of spider species who make the large, circular-patterned webs. Among the most common are big green ones, often called “garden spiders.” They can be a bit of a shock when you find them in your bedroom.

Last time I was out at camp with the Cub Scouts, I saw a Golden Orb Weaver (big yellow one) in a tree overhanging the path, but by the time the Cubs reached the web, she had crawled into a folded leaf that was built into the web.
