I imagine freaking out comes a little harder for them these days.

I pray that rap will someday just GO AWAY. It’s garbage and has reduced ‘music’ to the lowest of the low level. Perhaps a revival of the ‘70’s black bands or even disco will slowly extinguish rap once and for all. I HATE RAP!!!!!!!!

I think attrition among rap artists is off the charts. A very hazardous profession; they seem to die young. Worse than coal mining.

Great— what’s next Danny Terrio’s show revived to today? Disco just marginally better than rap, but just as mindless.
No, what’s needed is Duke Ellington and some serious melody and dancing.

I can't call Nile disco (I see them gathering stones to throw at me now) -- le Chic was more a rock-funk band.
Notwithstanding that, I agree with your conclusion, though I wouldn't mind some KC and would relish Sly.

Earth Wind and Fire, can do. And I’ll go you the original George Clinton and Funkadelic.
Personally, am a Booker T. and the MGs, Steve Cropper and Duck Dunn type for that kind of R&B.

It's been 37 years since Chic's break-out year in 1978.

The title “Freak Out” was originally “F—k Off” because the band wasn’t allowed to enter Studio 54.

Yessir, I'll have a dab of those.
And heap on a l'il "Mother's Finest" to finish it off!!
There's no race, or time constraints, for truly good groove. d;^)

It ain't Chic without Bernard Edwards on bass and he's been dead 20 years.

I was a two-year-old in 1978.
It blows my mind too. I remember preschool and nursery school from 34,35 years ago but it feels like it’s been 100 years ago.

Born in 72 here. Not just 100 years ago but another country, another world entirely. This music—what it felt to be FREE.

I was a two-year-old in 1978. Freepers certainly do come in all age ranges. I was 25 in 1978. I well remember Nile Rogers and Chic. Not really my bag, but they were cool.

I am glad to hear this news. I was born in December, 1970 (yes, i’m old) & Chic was one of my favorite childhood bands. It’s a shame that Bernard Edwards isn’t around but I’m a fan of Nile Rodgers. I guess that is one of the reasons that I love the Daft Punk song “Get Lucky”.
