The Patriots were in a tough spot and they needed a "lucky bounce". They got it. End of story.
The problem is even if Kearse had caught the ball it looked like he was going to be stopped short of the goal line anyway.
i am sorry but worry about scoring first... i know time on the clock is important, but sheesh... so is scoring...
Thought they would burn the clock at least and run it. Failing a TD, they still had an easy FG.
the second it moved to a play-action-pass it was doomed and who the hell throws up the middle with under 5yrds anyway.
Great game. Lots of great audibles.
Green Bay fans will tell you that the Seahawks shouldn't have been on the field at all. They should have been watching the SB on TV as Aaron and the Pack battled it out with the Patriots.
Seattle used up their luck two weeks before on a string of low-percentage desperation plays with only minutes to go. Fake punt, onside kick, hail-Mary passes to tie the game and then win in overtime. The chances of ALL these plays being successful is so vanishingly small, yet it happened.
The Packers should send the Seahawks a thank-you note for their epic FAIL, because it overshadows their own. Now both teams understand what it's like to have the game in your grasp and go down in flames.
Yogi Berra; “It ain’t over till it’s over”. And it’s OVER, said and done. In the history books.
The only thing deflated in that game was some egos.
I thought it was a pretty silly article. The author wanted to resort to all kinds of statistics to buttress his claim that Pete Carroll didn’t make the key mistake and Belichick did, but even the most beer-drenched football fan could see that call completely wiped out any other kind of error possible and was far, far more egregious.
That said, I only have sympathy for Seattle fans. We in New England know all too well the image of an improbable play, such as someone coming to the ground with a football glued to the top of his helmet.
But since it isn’t the Patriots, Seattle fans probably won’t have to be subjected to that interception video the same way we in New England had to endure the millstone of Tyree’s catch.
And I wouldn’t want them to have to, either.
Pete Carol got creative at possibly the worst moment in his career! Jeez Louise Pete!... You had the damn game won!!!
A pass play was not unreasonable, but the pass should have been away from the ruck of LBs and safeties waiting in the middle for Lynch’s run. A bootleg pass/run option by Wilson would have been a good choice, given his great success avoiding the Pat defense all day.
they should have run it in, but really when you look at that play, it was a sure td except for an exceptional play by the Pats player....
fact is the defensive play calling at the end of the 1st half by the Patriots, which led to a Seattle TD with 2 seconds left, was just as bad as this call but has received much less scrutiny...
Had the receiver caught the pass Carroll would’ve been hailed as the next Lombardi; ‘look everyone just knew the play was going to be a run to Lynch and he caught everyone by surprise and threw for a TD, what a genius!’...I can just hear it now. Since he didn’t catch the pass and Wilson threw an interception instead, he is a big choker and blew the game for them. Let’s face it folks, it’s just a GAME.
Great analysis. I think that men used to score better in math because we did sports statistics as young kids.
In the end Pete made the “right” call. But he is going to live with that forever.
It's George W. Bush's fault.

Every year I follow the expert pundit analyses of the NFL draft. Every year, the Seahawks get terrible grades. How did they even win 6 games, much less take it to the SB two years in a row?
They take chances! Some times it doesn’t work out. Then you are an idiot. When it does work out you are a genius.
That’s life. The courageous learn how to deal with it.
