I liked the Pete Rose Sketchers ad. Hilarious!!
In all of them were they selling a product or liberalism?
I thought they all sucked and the male bashing was over the top....especially the one where some bitch hands the infant to the new mom and says something like “Here,Its a boy,too bad.”
Talk about radical feminism at its finest
The Chevy Truck ‘blackout screen’ was way funny... once I got over my heart attack.
At least there wasn’t any America the Beautiful sung with mooslems as the objects of affection.
Over all kind of an off year, IMHO.
All the negative press about the Nissan ad misses the point: dads who work their arse off for their families, trying to help their family have financial security *DO* miss things. It sucks, and it often can’t be helped. These things hurt the father, too. But they are doing it for the ones they love most, so give them some respect for their sacrifice - they’re doing it for you.
The alternative, of course, is that the wife leaves the father because - in today’s modern world - he wasn’t successful enough, they had money troubles, and divorce was all too easy.
I am no fan of Ali. Plus I don’t see trash talking and super-ego as inspirational at all
All the lefties that worked their way up in the marketing departments of the Fortune 500 firms got to spend their employers’ money pushing their lame leftie causes.
Meanwhile, I skipped the commercials, and got to watch a great game, corporate suckers!
I liked the Doritos ad with the guy sitting on the plane and the empty seat next to him.
There was a Pizza Hut one that made fun of Super Bowl commercials that was pretty funny, but it aired 4:00 Central, 5:00 Eastern, almost 2 hours before kickoff. I expected to see it again but didn’t.
Pretty good recap of the ads, thanks for posting this. Even though it’s slate and even though the author seems to be almost a self-hating man, although not so much that he likes the Dove and the Nissan ads.
He’s really spot on about Nissan, I mean who thought that was a good ad? And I even like that song, to a certain extent.
I’ve not seen a mention here about the “throw like a girl” commercial. It was about hurting the “feelings” of girls. Just wow, I think of all the hardships of girls around the world and THIS is what girls in this country have to overcome? ohhhh the horror. Of course, boys don’t have anyone bully them, call them names or have girls tease them!
...makes people who they are. I just couldn’t help but think it was such liberal “feel good” nonsense. Of course, it was really just male-bashing, of course we all need to change OUR behavior. They must have spent a lot of money on it. I would imagine they’d have had a bigger impact if they’d shown all children being picked on, with the final message, “do unto others as you would have them do unto you”.
...lol...I know, it’s crazy!
Best commercial was the avocado “First Draft” one.
Fiat and Budweiser puppy were the best :)
