So it was multiple times

It was only illegal for part of one quarter of one game before the uniformed and credentialled staffer was stopped.

but we’ll never know the full extent of the taping scandal going on because the nfl hq destroyed the materials without anyone else ever getting a chance to see all that was going on.

Also wrong. There were reporters that had gotten to see them and described them. Jay Glazer in particular gave descriptions, including other teams waving at the obvious and open cameraman. As the NFL had just ruled that the Dolphins receiving tapes from the local Miami television stations was not a violation of any rules, and quite vigorously stated that teams could use such footage, any release of the videos would be legally usable by any other team. The tapes were destroyed because the NFL found that even supposedly locked up, they were getting leaked, and destroyed them to stop that. It’d be kindof daft to release information which was “not to be used” publicly.

All that said...do you even know what the infraction was? Most screaming Mimi’s have no idea.

Yes, illegal taping of which the NFL sent a memo around in 2006 specifically saying that the taping of other teams practices, team hand signals etc was illegal.
