I know the rest of the culture insists on this, but aren't men the primary clientele of the NFL?

The NFL assumes the primary clientele isn't going anywhere and they want to expand their market. The yearly Susan Komen "pink" uniform ritual, the growing People-magazine style coverage of the sport with heavy emphasis on personal stories, insistence on players appearing without helmets to introduce themselves at the beginning of prime-time games, the heavy fines for players like Marshawn Lynch who don't want to talk to the media - all of these are aimed at growing the NFL's women's audience.

And let's face it - Katy Perry singing at half-time is not an act targeted at the male audience.

Really? I thought she was pretty good. I didn’t like the screaming banshees hopping around but I really liked her finale.
