I suspect that if the state legislatures still uniquely controlled the Senate as the Founding States had intended that it would be more difficult for corrupt federal politicians to promise voters sexual freedom-related laws to win votes. So this kind of federal government corruption is arguably more evidence that state lawmakers were foolish to ratify the ill-conceived 17th Amendment.

The Absolute Freedom of Sex is the leftist essentially atheist male's dream of free access to women with women not really having much input into it. Derivatively it is homosexuals' dream to totally debauch their lives publicly and be loved for it. the old Communist ideal was Free Love which to the Lenins and the Trotskys was the "community of women" or that women make no bonds and thus are available to any male in the Party at any time. Of course that presupposed state creches and free and easy abortion as well as ubiquitous contraceptives. Children must be reared by the State so as to free women from any attachment to home so that they can be used on the assembly line and to work in the mines. It takes a woman and someone supporting her to raise 1 or several children. The state can do it with a couple of adults to 50 or a 100 children and by the way, the childrens' education is no longer subject to reality of family rearing. A side effect is the rearing of females to be freely available to men, especially party members.

Free Love and Sexual Freedom is a conspiracy of men against women.
