It's the South and a lot of cops down here are good ol' boys. It's in their blood. I'm sure when the perp jumped off the boat and headed in the swamp the cop's looked at each other and said "are we gonna let that boy get away with this?"
Probably every good ol' boy cop down here just loves a swamp chase. Think about it, guns, dogs, boats heck it's just like huntin. And this is sportsman's paradise.
