North Dakota United is a group formed by the states two largest unions: The teachers and the public workers. The group claims to represent over 11,000 people, and describes itself on its website as a professional organization. Youd think, from the way they describe themselves, that they mostly concern themselves with professional development and advocacy on issues of importance to government employees.
Which is all well and good. Thats exactly what you would expect from an organization like that. What you might not expect is the group meeting in solidarity with advocacy groups pushing positions far outside the scope of things like teacher pay and pension reform.
Like, say, Planned Parenthood?
Below is an email forwarded to me by a SAB reader announcing a series of solidarity gatherings organized by Planned Parenthood to promote left-wing issues. Among the invested groups in these meetings is North Dakota United.
Im certain that North Dakota United counts, among its membership, people with diverse opinions about politics generally and abortion specifically. So it is appropriate that North Dakota United be engaging in issue advocacy so far outside its primary mission?
Is North Dakota United really representing these workers? Or is that just an excuse for a group that really serves as a backstop for left-wing politics in the state?

The teachers union supporting planned parenthood?
Isn’t that like chickens supporting Col. Sanders?
You would think. I guess the teachers really hate their students.
Without students, these clowns would not have jobs.
Without jobs, there would be no union.
hahahahahaha
Teachers are always trying to reduce their class sizes ...
Like normal, liberals like their agenda more than actually thinking through their agenda, which is why teachers would support abortion. Besides, in the minds of public employees, the cash cow shall never cease giving them the cream. The public will pay them even if there's no students to teach (SMALLER CLASS SIZES NOW!)
And just think of how many conservatives are forced into these unions, and watching their money supporting these monstrous agendas..
Union thugs/baby killers. Nice. I don’t think we’re in America anymore, Toto.
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
