Analysts say Apple has beaten Samsung to become world’s largest smartphone vendor

Samsung is refusing to release concrete figures, but some industry experts are giving the win to Apple.
After recording the biggest quarterly profit by any company ever, Apple might have earned itself another accolade: world’s largest smartphone vendor. It’s clear that the iPhone maker had a bumper quarter, reporting record sales of 74.5 million smartphones. However, Samsung is only saying that it sold 95 million total handsets, of which, it says, somewhere between 71 million and 75 million (the “high 70 percent”) were smartphones.
So has Apple finally beaten Samsung? It’s impossible to say with absolute certainty. Samsung isn’t likely to give up any more information on the topic, and analysts and industry experts are hedging their bets accordingly. Some are marking it as a dead heat while others are claiming Apple as the winner. Counterpoint Research, which polls global distributors for its figures, says the iPhone maker is definitely ahead pegging Samsung’s shipments at only 73.8 million. Ben Bajarin, an analyst for Creative Strategies also gives the win to Apple (see chart above), but Strategy Analytics claims both vendors shipped 74.5 million smartphones in the fourth quarter last year.

I’m gonna be needing a new phone in the coming months!
I believe I could hold out for this one! (I hope it comes in a dark color/black)
Heck I use an old flip phone.
And we thot bag phones were BIG..and bulky!!!!
In what area of the spec sheet is the Apple product superior to the Samsung I posted?
PPI on the Samsung is far greater.
The Samsung has 8 cores versus Apples 2.
I could go on and on.
How is the Apple product superior? Please point it out to me.
So did Star Trek TOS
I have the Galaxy S5 and really enjoy it. The case I got for it is heavier than the phone itself! It also has expandable memory. I plopped a 32 gig card in there. Battery life is good. Make sure you turn off location, when not in use, as well as Bluetooth.
It looks kind of thin. It won’t bend, will it?
Besides, I like having number keys on the same board as the letters.
A flip phone works just fine as a phone. The only thing I use some hand-me-down smart phones for is as portable radios.
The Apple phone makes a much greater profit for Apple.
I have the Galaxy S4 with a 64GB card. My wife has the S5 in the waterproof version. I am looking to get the S6 this spring in the waterproof version, if there is one. Will also get a 128GB card. I have about 25 full length movies on my card, along with almost every episode of Seinfeld and Deadwood.
Oh, that’s yet another thing that you can do with a Samsung but cannot with an Apple.....expand the memory.
Will it be clogged with BLOATWARE?
The Apple phone makes a much greater profit for Apple......IOW, Consumers pay more for less.
If you think that is a good thing for you and me and consumers, let’s just say we disagree.
Not an Apple fan. I prefer Android and I currently have the Galaxy S4.
My 5 year old flip phone is good enough for me, too.
Apple and Samsung both make really good phones.
I think Samsung might think about coming up with their own OS, maybe their own version of Android
