During the era of Communist rule, the official version of history talked about the Nazi crimes but omitted the fact that they especially targeted Jews...so people who grew up in the post-war era may be poorly informed about the Holocaust. Of course there have been 25 years since the downfall of Communism when objective information has been easier to come by.

People remembering communist mass murders are not Nazis, although this is what Zuroff has been saying for years.

“Eastern Europe minimizes Holocaust and equates it with Communist ‘genocide,’ says Dr. Zuroff”

He is mockingly putting quotes around the word genocide as that man has made it clear those mourning the victims of communist mass murders are his enemies.

Yes, the focus was on the victims being Anti-Fascists.

In East Germany, the former Communist Party boss Ernst Thaelmann was the most celebrated victim of the holocaust.
