I has a Generac that was pretty decent. They are pretty common. It had wheels and a big overhead tank that would hold a lot. It had a Tecumseh engine though that I wished had been another brand, I loaned it out (to my Dad) and it sat and carb got gunked up by the new gas. and would no longer start. It got stolen by some sketchy construction workers that I hired, so I am looking for a new one too.
My advice is that whatever you buy, maintain the gas. Use Stabil or equivalent if you leave it sit for more than a month. The new ethanol reformulated gas is crap. It deteriorates very quickly. Some dealers won’t warrant for anything gas related anymore. The days of storing gas for long periods is gone. Almost like the government doesn’t want you to. Like they want you dependent and not prepared. But that is a whole different topic.....
I store all my stuff, splitter, saws, mower, blower, trimmer every thing with this.
Tractor is diesel,whole other story
Splitter (honda engine) needed a new carb 2nd year this stuff cleared all that up.
When I need to run the saw and splitter in winter I use it also but run pump stuff through the warm season.
Had the saw out last week fired right up and ran fine
What about the pure gas that they sell at Phillips 66 and QuikTrip and others?
Ethanol free gas is available nearly everywhere.
Many stations are listed here. http://www.pure-gas.org/index.jsp
If you don’t find one locally on this web page contact your local gasoline distributors and ask. If they handle it they will be happy to tell you, if they don’t handle it they may lie about its availability.
I keep 30 gal on hand all the time to use in my chain saws and for other gasoline powered tools. I rotate it in my car about every six months. Gas mileages increases while using it.
There’s a place just north west of Broadway on 259 (VA, about 15 miles from the Hardy county W.VA. line) that sells alcohol free gasoline, if you’re relatively close to that. Otherwise, look on the net and there are some sites that show those locations.
My advice is that whatever you buy, maintain the gas.
I have been using premium REAL gasoline in all of my small engines after paying for multiple carburetor rebuilds. Its expensive and only available at certain stations (www.pure-gas.org) but my fuel troubles are gone.
Pure gas with a little added Sta-bil stores just fine. That adulterated corn juice is pure garbage.
