Mr Tchaikovski (not sure if the spelling is correct) made sure we knew he had been in a concentration camp. He had the fading tattoo on his forearm and didn’t cover it which led to questions.

One of the schools I taught in was in a part of the city originally settled by German immigrants. When I started there (early 1990’s) the student body was perhaps 30% German descent, 30% black, and 40% other. Most kids came from poor families (the middle class had by that time moved away).

Now here's the thing. I heard many anti-black comments from the German-descent kids. But I heard more anti-Jewish comments! Interesting, eh?
