Many, many fond memories growing up in the late 60’s watching him play out his career. Only wish I could have seen him play shortstop in his prime. My memories are of him guarding first base.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Cub.

Very sad. I don’t remember much from when I was a little shaver, but I do remember when my dad was stationed at Great Lakes, he would take me to Wrigley and we would watch Mr. Cub hit homers while we ate Good n Plentys. I was about 4 or 5, so that was in 69-70. One of my fondest memories and the reason I love baseball. I love you, dad.

Wasn't he the one that loved the game so much he is known for the phrase "Let's play two"?
