11 of the 12 footballs weighed by the NFL at halftime were 2 pounds under the required weight. It wasn’t random or due to equipment failure.
If the officials were not in on it, then the ballboys deflated the balls. Did the ballboys act on their own?
In New England? Not a chance...
No big deal?
With properly aired balls, the Pats may have had trouble hanging onto the ball in the rain. They could have been down by 21 at the half? No big deal? I think the NFL has to suspend someone for the game, if for no other reason than to ensure that everyone understands that the NFL was in no way involved with this.
This matter goes to the heart of integrity in the NFL.
Pete Rose got a lifetime ban from baseball for tampering with the integrity of baseball. Something BIG will come of this...
I hadn’t read that yet. What I read was that 11 of 12 balls were under-inflated. Two of the balls were 2 psi below the league minimum.
Can you please give me source for the NFL statement regarding 11 of 12 balls being 2 psi (or greater) below the minimum?
Maybe they did deflate on their own.
There is no way to be sure of it at this time, and as such, it would be improper to issue any sort of severe punishment to anyone unless some evidence of tampering comes to light.
Suspending “someone” is madness, man, seriously.
If evidence does arise from an investigation, then I would certainly look at it and make a decision on that.
