Since everyone who tracked and handled the footballs from the time of the measurement before the game is paid by the NFL, someone had to be complicit or responsible. (Assuming, of course, they followed procedure from their rule book.) The NFL officials seem to be the only ones profiting from this, their calls are no longer the big story.

Not accurate. Before kickoff, they were turned over to the ball boys who are employed by the Patriots, not the NFL.

The Dallas, Greenbay game showed their calls on the field don’t mean squat. Maybe the replay officials can go and look at every second of video and find a culprit. Even if Belichick had the ball for two steps and stabbed it with a knife, he could claim he never had posession because he dropped it when reaching to put it back in the bag
