The world is "3 minutes" from doomsday.
That's the grim outlook from board members of The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. Frustrated with a lack of international action to address climate change and shrink nuclear arsenals, they decided today (Jan. 22) to push the minute hand of their iconic "Doomsday Clock" to 11:57 p.m.
It's the first time the clock hands have moved in three years; since 2012, the clock had been fixed at 5 minutes to symbolic doom, midnight.

“The Doomsday Clock” in particular and the “Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists” in general is pure marxist agit-prop.

It's the first time the clock hands have moved in three years; since 2012, the clock had been fixed at 5 minutes to symbolic doom, midnight. So why should I worry about symbolic doom?

I actually went to the Bulletin office back in 1985 to see “The Clock”.
There is no “The CLock”, there were at that timehalf a dozen or so. They had no mechanism, working like a primary school “Judy Clock”.
What’s worse, is that only the hours 9 through 12 are shown on the clock. They have moved the hands forwards, backwards, by varying amounts.
In short, there is “no clock”, and what they call the clocks are not clocks at all.

It's the first time the clock hands have moved in three years; BULLSHIT!
This submoron writes as if "the hands" move of their own will, measuring our march to doom. That's nonsense. The leftist that scribble the BAS decide to "move" the "hands" whenever it suits their communist agenda. It's that simple, and that stupid.

Experts on the board said they felt a sense of urgency this year because of the world's ongoing addiction to fossil fuels, procrastination with enacting laws to cut greenhouse gas emissions and slow efforts to get rid of nuclear weapons. And here was I thinking it was because of Ukraine or ISIS or something.

I think the real reason they moved it is because the Republicans won the Senate. It will go to a minute or less if the R’s win the White House in 2016

I strongly suggest that the next meeting of these scientists be held in Syria or even better, in the Gaza Strip. I’m sure that they’ll continue to worry about ‘(human caused) global climate change’ once the security is removed. And I betcha that their clock will advance to one minute to midnight - well, with what few members are left after Hamas or ISIS or Al Queda get done with them.
