Mormon teachings can be even more easily compared to those of Erasmus or Martin Luther. If Protestants can claim the right to rebel against the mainstream church teachings of the 16th century, then Mormons have the same right to rebel or reform those of the 19th century of the third century.
Either Christianity is based in individual conscience and guidance by the Holy Spirit or church hierarchy and line of authority or a proper balance between the two. Take your pick, but don't waste time and resources re-fighting the unproductive religious wars of the 17th century which almost allowed the Muslim hordes to conquer Europe.
