I thought the Bernie Mac show was awesome in its honesty.

He played himself living his life. He worked to get out of the hood and when he made it he struggled to keep the hood out of Beverly hills. He was happier with old Jewish neighbors like Don Rickles and Rob Reiner.

I especially liked the episode where he was telling his young niece that no white person owes her a damn thing for slavery that ended 150 years before she was born.

Yeah, Bernie was a class act, I sure miss him. He had that “downhome wisdom” that a lot of people are lacking nowadays.

Now we’re just stuck with his less talented hanger-on, Cedric the Unentertaining.

The Bernie Mac show is still great to watch. “Black-ish” is one of my current favorites on today. Like the episode in which the dad makes the kids all get jobs and when he gives them their paychecks the son puts on a very contrived “black” accent, repeatedly slides his hand over the check like it’s a stack of bills and says, “I’m about to make it rain up in the comic book sto’!” My wife and I really enjoy it.
