< shrug > She could be an Episcopal Priest ... but that wouldn’t be “countercultural”, nor an opportunity to “stick it to the man”.
Right, people like this are only interested in the controversy they can stir up. It doesn’t matter that there are countless denominations that would be happy to make her a priest, reverend, minister, or what have you. The fact that there is even one that doesn’t allow it means she can’t rest until she “sends a message”.
I, for one, take the Bible seriously when it says women shouldn’t perform certain functions in the church. It’s not for me to question God’s logic or try to second guess Him. I’m just a simple human, so I have to assume he has good reasons, whether we understand them or not. That is what is missing from people like this woman: proper perspective, and the humility that follows from it.
