The point of the movie was that they weren’t, really. They had kind hearts and a marketable skill (fashion design). They’d just be evaluating themselves by high-school standards, which are stupid.

Huh. I finished the movie with kind of a bad taste in my mouth. Perhaps I misunderstood it. To me, it seemed just mean and ugly.

I might have quit watching it too soon.

I only watched it because I was a fan of Lisa Kudrow. She doesn't do "ditzy" very well, in my view. Phoebe/Ursula was perfect for her.

The point I drew was that the standards of high school are worthless for the rest of your life, and if you think those things matter, you’re going to be miserable.

That’s just me, though ... we all “read in” based on our own experiences.
