Friends of a Temple University freshman who fell eight stories to her death said a Facebook post just before her tragic fall hints that it may have been suicide.
Rebecca Kim, 18, was visiting two friends at a Rittenhouse Square apartment in Philadelphia when she leaned out the window to take pictures and tumbled to her death around 6 p.m. Thursday, police said.
Kim allegedly posted to her Facebook page just before her fatal fall: "It was intentional."
"It was shock, a lot of shock. I really didn't know how to react to it at first," classmate and friend Rachelle Newman told NBC Philadelphia. "I was sitting there frozen. I was like 'whoa.'"

Rittenhouse Square is quite a ways from Temple, and I don’t mean just in distance.
What if she was trying to post something entirely unrelated, but got so freakin' frustrated with the autocorrect function that she through herself out the window.
And she landed on an innocent lady just walking by...she is still in critical condition.
Doesn’t clear up the mystery for me. WHY?
Doesnt clear up the mystery for me. WHY?
I used to work with quite a few of these kids, and the intensity for them to succeed is unbelievable. They were, for the most part, wonderful people, and great representatives of their families. Unfortunately, if they get a 95% on an assignment, the focus is on the fact that they “screwed up” on 5%. As an American born white man, I was flabbergasted that a student would be ashamed to bring home an “A” instead of an “A+”.
I wouldn’t be surprised that this poor young lady was under similar pressures.
Sad, really.
Threw.
Check your autocorrect.
; )
You got my clever joke.
It was so clever that I didn’t get it.
“...but first let me take a selfie.”
I gave an Asian student less than 100 % perfect on her score...( Which she earned...) And she threw a fit..and cried.
I think I gave her a 9 out of 10.....
Some of my best jokes are like that, too.
I'm absolutely brilliant when I'm not around.
: )
Yeah, my subconscious is a genius.
I have seen Korean kids behave as if going home with such a grade was tantamount to going off to their own execution. They were correct, too, when they said “you don’t understand”.
Prior to the start of my all expense paid tour of sunny South East Asia in 1970, I was stationed as Permanent Party with the 291st Military Police Company at Redstone Arsenal Alabama.
Redstone at that time ran a school for the MIM-23 HAWK Missile. The students included soldiers from NATO countries like Turkey and SEATO, including South Koreans.
I recall distinctly (my first experience with “crime scene” investigation) two suicides among the international students. One was a Turk and the other a ROK. Seems they could not bear the shame of failing a test that was devised by an American.
The HAWK missile school stopped giving those exams shortly thereafter.
about a 2 and 1/2 miles she was visiting friends who must have lived there. quite a nice place for students? another penn student walked off a parking garage at 13th and locust i think during the summer
i do walk around high rises on occasion and i think about falling stuff but not people.
and after reading the article which was from the NYpost or something she died on chestnut street which is also a long way from rittenhouse square. as least as a bird or body can fly.
Totally.
Thanks for your service.
Don’t have much experience with Turks, but based on what I know about Koreans, that holds true to form.
I can also understand that other cultures don’t think we stack up, brainpower wise, and would be ashamed of the fact that they failed to measure up.
Since we're all self professed conservative CHRISTIANS, lets have a big hearty laugh and come up with as many jokes as we can over this hilarious death of Rebecca Kim.........After all, we're self righteous, we're Christians, we're conservative and gosh darn it, we're FREEPERS who have a sense of humor! Ha Ha!
