Not at all, perfectly in line with the British penchant for Political Correctness run amok (they noted Earhart's crossing) and English supremacy in all things (they recorded Alcock & Brown's crossing in 1919 even though it barely made a ripple in popular culture, while Lindberg's crossing catapulted aviation into the every-day lexicon).
