I was cruising netflick and came across Duvall in “Once upon a time in Mexico” or something like that. It was okay - but it had a good lesson that perhaps many of us should lighten up a bit, take risks, and enjoy life.

My rules in life that have been passed down to my kids.

Life isn’t fair. That was ingrained when they were VERY little. Sometimes on purpose.

Nothing is easy. At least in dealing with problems. Know that ahead of time and you won’t get frustrated and give up.

It’s always something. And of course, once you get things figured out - it goes bad again. But - keep after it.

God is Sovereign. Inspite of the unfairness and difficulty in life, somehow, God is in control, and trust in Him. At about the age of 10 or so I would tell them that you can’t always trust people - including your mom or dad, to do the right thing. And we can’t always be there for you. But God will be there. Always.
