$42.. imagine there were six employees and they all got pizzas that added up to just over $7 with tax. Each would throw in a buck tip, to bring it up to about $49, make it close to $50
1 divided by 7 is about .143... so it amounts to about a 14 per cent tip.
They wanted to give a 0 per cent tip and have him drive back to give them the change from the $50
Or to think of it another way:
10 per cent of 42 bucks is $4.20
5 per cent of 42 bucks is $2.10
Total is $6.30, so a $7 tip is just over 15 per cent,
but not much. A 20 per cent tip would be about $8.40,
which is $1.40 per person if there were 6 of them.
(we’re talking small pizzas for $7 each, admittedly a very low price, but...)
