Yes. Somewhat disappointing, I thought. I prefer to remember him walking into the distance. (Interesting that his death as a result of a car crash is foreshadowed in the original movie when the out-of-control oxcart almost takes him out.)
I watched it, but wished they didn’t do it. I guess the one redeeming thing about it was it did tell us more about Patton’s relationship with his wife.
