If you ever get the itch, unless you already have done so...
Might I suggest a book called, “That Every Man Be Armed,” by Stephen P Halbrook.
It goes into incredible detail about the origins of our natural right to be armed. From the time of the Caesars until the mid-eighties.
For example:
“The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed; a well armed, and well regulated militia being the best security of a free country: but no person religiously scrupulous of bearing arms shall be compelled to render military service in person
The above was ALMOST written into our constitution by James Madison.
The English Bill of Rights had a kind of second amendment, too. It didn’t apply to Protestants, though.
It’s a really good book on this subject.
