He probably knows Manning is gone, and he is too old build a team from scratch - just like Jimmy Johnson when he was in Miami or Bill Parcels when he was in Dallas. In comparison to his first two seasons with the Broncos, IMO Manning didn't demonstrate a great deal of energy this year. The only reason he hasn't retired so far is the lack of a Super Bowl win, but he now has the touchdown passing record to make up for it. With big changes coming to the Broncos lineup next year, I can see Manning deciding to retire.

Manning won the Super Bowl in 2007 against the Bears.

With big changes coming to the Broncos lineup next year, I can see Manning deciding to retire. You can't rebuild around a 38-year-old quarterback. Signing Manning was a move to 'win now'. The Broncos subsequently won a lot of games but not the Super Bowl. It's a tall order to win the Super Bowl (just ask Dan Marino or Boomer Esiason or Warren Moon etc etc). So I don't consider the move a total failure. But if Manning goes, whom do the Broncos turn to at QB?
