Once upon a time in everyone’s lifetime, this includes the birds and the beasts, we were all fetuses, human or other. This is how life begins, how can they not acknowledge this. What is not an actual living being are egg and sperm which just the components of life. One life is created by the joining of one egg and one sperm. It could be said could be said that many other lives were prevented when one was conceived. Preventing conception does not end life, it merely prevents a life from being created, as does chastity.
