Rep. Paul Ryan, a Republican from Wisconsin and 2012 vice presidential nominee, will not run for president in 2016, he announced Monday.
Ryan, the new chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, ruled out a presidential bid in a statement after first announcing his decision to NBC News.
After giving it a lot of thought, Ive decided not to run for president, he said in the statement. Our work at the House Ways and Means Committee over the next few years will be crucial to moving America forward, and my job as chairman deserves undivided attention. "

Doesn’t matter to me who runs on the R side...none of them are getting my vote.
Talking about balancing a budget in ten years is really saying the budget won’t be balanced.
Its political trickery like promising math and reading proficiency 100 percent in ten years by 2014 like George W and Ted Kennedy did with No Child Left Behind.
For the record, I also will not be running for president in 2016.
Romney said he wasn’t running either.
Ryan will probably keep his word.
Laz?
Have you dropped out of the race yet?
THis is an indication that Walker is a definite. Ryan cannot run without the support of Wisconsin GOP ... and they are going with Walker.
Having Walker in the race would be an obstacle for Ryan too large to overcome.
Yeah, but he don't understand strategy. He misses the forest for the trees.
He tries to balance the budget without fixing the underlying economic problems. Fix the economic problems and put people back to work, and balancing the budget will be much much easier.

Bump. When I here a politician say "10 year plan", I know it is all smoke and mirrors. The goodies (for the politicians) are front loaded and the pain (cuts, reform, etc.) are on the back end. Two years after such a plan, they quietly nix it and head to the nearest cocktail party.
He’s a Rino.
I did really enjoy how Paul Ryan trolled Chris Christie yesterday on twitter re the Packers v Cowboys. That was a fabulous use of a Packer win.
Go Seahawks!!
Nobody wants the little weasel anyway.
Smart. He would have got clobbered.
Good decision . . . and helpful.
Heck, Joe Stalin had the “Five Year Plans” and what jokes
they were to the slaves of his empire....
