It’s called anonymous’’ for a reason. The reason being to put principals before personalities.

Not sure what your point is. Anyone can publicly claim they are an alcoholic and even say the belong to AA. The anonymous part comes from the tenet that says, "I can say I'm an alcoholic but you, or anyone else, cannot." Anonymous means you don't go around telling people who you saw in a meeting.

. This young woman is free to reveal her anonymity all she wants. And the article isn't about A.A. but since you asked about my point it's this. The ‘’anonymous’’ means, among other things that A.A. is a program of attraction, not promotion. Anonymity allows the still suffering alcoholic the safety of knowing his/her identity won't be revealed, because if it were it might persuade that person and others to avoid treatment. Furthermore, when high-profile people reveal their anonymity and should they pick up a drink again it's in the natural cynicism of people to say, "See that ''recovery'' stuff is a crock''.
