In the 60s Penneys had an auto service center, much like Wards and Sears at the time. They sold Bridgestone motorcyles, classmate of mine got a Bridgestone 50 there, rode it to junior high every day. At that time in Florida a 14 yo could drive a bike of 5 bhp, usually 60cc or less.

Around ‘73 or ‘74 my Jr. High class visited another Jr. High out in the sticks of rural S. central FL (Belle Glade?) for a drama play.

The bike rack at the school had more minibikes in it than bicycles.
