Yep. They didn’t hold the parade for the Giants in Newark, did they?

They didn't want to risk not having tires on the floats and other parade vehicles.

When the Giants won their first Superbowl (’87 I think), then mayor, Ed Koch, would not allow a ticker tape parade in NYC’s “Canyon of Heroes”. His rationale was that the City’s boundaries were quite clear, and if the Giants didn’t want to play in NYC, they shouldn’t expect the privileges.

Not sure how succeeding mayors treated the matter.
