One of those suspects entered the woman’s vehicle via its passenger side after the woman unlocked her doors to exit her car.

Design flaw.

The driver should be able to unlock the driver's side door without automatically unlocking all other doors on a vehicle.

Just push the unlock button once, unless the back door or trunk has to also be opened for larger packages.
