“There is an old saying in AA:

“From Park Place to a park bench.”

Them country folks in KY ain’t no different from the business exec in Manhattan.

It all leads to one place, and that place isn’t pretty.”

At the recovery center I went to there were 2 TV celebrities, a well known heavy weight boxer, a college professor who taught bacterial research, a lawyer a doctor and several businessmen such as myself. Addiction is not picky.

Eric Clapton quit using heroin, then years later quit using alcohol. He funds a recovery center, and has worked there as a counselor.

He was interviewed and asked how he could relate to a poor, addict or alcoholic.

He replied that when using addictive substances, they shared the same condition, money and fame or not, and needed the same solution.

Richard Chamberlain’s father, Chuck C., was well known in SoCal recovery circles, and for his book: “A New Pair of Glasses.” He was a “rich” shopping center developer.

He bequeathed a property to the Laguna Beach alano club, which became seed money for them to later build their own dedicated and owned facility.
