My old stomping grounds. Gone down hill since it got “de-gentrified”.

I'm surprised that Oakwood remained viable for as long as it did, being located so close to the Fischer housing projects in neighboring Algiers. And by "neighboring", I mean you could see the projects from the mall parking lot. It must've been heavily policed as early as the mid-'70s. I know there was a police sub-station in that mall in the '80s (always a hint that an area is in decline).

Sheriff Lee was tough. Never allowed Algiers too far into Gretna.
