BTW, we raise beef cattle.
But the Food Saver got the greatest raves of all. Present opening had to be put on hold while she worked out how to use it.
I will never understand this woman if we live to be 200 years old.
Congratulations and Merry Christmas! Baby Bro told me last night that he had a food saver and it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. What the heck? He doesn’t even cook! I give up. ;-)
Before you do that, ask her if she really wants the DeWalt cordless drill instead....no sense making the trip to Home Depot for nothing.
I got the Missus her own cordless screwdriver. A Skil Li-ion unit. Small to fit her hand and it's...pink! She loves it.
When you have to get replacement bags, do not buy the Foodsaver bags. They are too light weight. Get the Zip-Loc brand of bags (Ziploc Vacuum Roll Refills).
They are heavier duty and will keep the bag from getting those microscopic punctures that cause a loss of vacuum. Target carries them.
ALERT!
ALERT!
INCOMING EMERGENCY ACTION MESSAGE...EYES ONLY.
NEVER....EVER...BELIEVE YOUR WIFE OR GIRLFRIEND WHEN THEY SAY THEY WANT NOTHING FOR BIRTHDAY/CHRISTMAS OR ANY OTHER GIFT GIVING OCCASION!
YOU ARE BEING TESTED. DO NOT FAIL THIS TEST. THEY ARE NOT BEING TRUTHFUL!
GIVE IT SOME THOUGHT.
BUY (OR MAKE) A GIFT.
BE SURE IT IS WRAPPED NICELY WITH A RIBBON AND A BOW.

She has played with the Food Saver, but hasn't actually used it on real food yet. I'm hoping it happens today or early tomorrow. I'm good for one day of Christmas/Thanksgiving leftovers, but that's about it.
The food is just to rich to eat for long.
I'm hoping some original contributors to the thread will come back and update how it went.
You can use the Food Saver 'accessory' setting to vac seal Mylar aluminized bags with a straw attached to the fitting on the retractable hose. Have a flat iron ready to go to seal the bag with your oxygen absorber and product inside. A bit of Scotch tape helps to attach the straw to the hose.
