The commies, imo, were not nearly as good at design.
Their army uniform hat, for instance, gets perilously close to being a contender in the Silly Hat Contest.
They weren’t at all proficient in industrial design, it was either knockoffs or grandiose but hilariously wrong to the point of dysfunction. Same with apparel. But, with propaganda posters they had their moments. Revolutionary propaganda materials from Cuba often rose to the level of art, their other propensities notwithstanding.
