In the wake of recent police shootings of Brown and Garner, murder of police officers, and the overall distrust and tension fomented by DeBlasio, Sharpton, Holder, Obama, etc., primarily in New York, Giuliani has placed himself in the spotlight by speaking out against these troublemakers.
His soothing yet firm demeanor is reminiscent of Ronald Reagan and could be just what America needs following a chaotic eight years of the amateur in the White House.
” First Romney, then Jeb and now Rooty?
Please tell me we don’t have to go through this crap all over again. “
Well....uh....we need to ignore it : )
Works for me.
Sharpton charged his bail on his race card.
:’) Glad you’re here.
“Cruz/Giuliani?” — didn’t see that before, that could definitely work. Giuliani might be a better guvnah of NY instead, that would help the ticket in the NE in subsequent years.
You obviously don't have a clear memory of last time.
Rooty Rooters are like a really bad song that you can't get out of your head.
I remember the “Rooty Tooters” episode all too well. The only fun part was watching them get ZOTTED, one by one : )
Rudy campaign: “ Did you know I was here during 911? My life had no real meaning prior to 911. I changed my home address to 911. I drive a Porsche 911. I made 911 the emergency line.”
I saw Giuliani defending de Blasio on Fox today. If that doesn’t tell us where he stands, I can’t think of what would.
I admit that I was shocked, because I had remembered Giuliani as supporting law enforcement, and because De Blasio is a liberal democrat. De Blasio should resign.
New York City is deteriorating. What a mess the democrats have made of everything these last six years.
Yep. SOS.
No, really? People claim Yonkers is upstate? Get a map, people!
Apple knockers start at Gun Hill Road....
Hey! My husband grew up on Gun Hill Road - he’s no Yokel!
I love Mayor Giuliani. I love MAYOR Giuliani. Not President Giuliani.
No pro-aborts.
However, he could very well run for mayor again, and could win. There is some talk about Pataki running, but he won't win either. The are both getting on in years now.
I respect your opinion.
But he would never make it TO Iowa. His wait until SC plan did not work well last time.
For AG? In a heartbeat.
No... Rudy was a great mayor, but no, we need Cruz...
In much of the world (former Soviet Union, China, Cuba, Iran, Iraq under Saddam, North Korea) Rudy would have been summarily executed for his incompetence leading up to 9/11, in the military anywhere in the rest of the world he would have been relieved of command and would probably face a court martial.
The World Trade Center was bombed on February 26, 1993 establishing it as a KNOWN TERRORIST TARGET. Rudy became mayor on January 1, 1994. The most high profile buildings/sites in NYC at the time (and therefore the most obvious terrorist targets) were the Twin Towers, Empire State Building, NYSE, Chrysler Building, Grand Central Station, Madison Square Garden, the Brooklyn Bridge, Holland Tunnel, Lincoln Tunnel, Yankee Stadium and Statue of Liberty (I know there are others, but these are the places that people all over the world have heard of). Of these, by far, the easiest targets to fly a plane into were the Twin Towers and the Statue of Liberty; however, while destroying the Statue of Liberty would have been symbolically tragic, the loss of life would pale in comparison to the Twin Towers.
Now, any military commander in history would tell you that, given the choice, you place your command center close to the center of action, but far enough away to keep it out of the action. So, armed with all of this information based on thousands of years of history and plain common sense, Rudy had the bright idea of placing the NYC Emergency Operations Center at 7 World Trade Center. The EOC had to be evacuated within an hour of the first plane and was down for the next four days. Lives were certainly lost BECAUSE the EOC wasn't operational, though it would have been had it been located in a lower profile location.
On top of all this, one of the biggest problems in the 1993 bombing was evacuation of the Towers, most of the deaths and injuries in 1993 were BECAUSE of the panic in the stairwells during evacuation. Now, Rudy was mayor for all but nine months of the period between the 1993 bombing and 9/11. To the best of my knowledge, the issue of evacuating the Towers was NEVER addressed. To be clear, I'm not saying that a feasible solution could have been found, but Rudy should have at least had the issue studied for possibilities.
I realize that hindsight is 20/20, but a lot of what Rudy did and failed to do in the years leading up to 9/11 flies in the face of common sense and demonstrates a near total lack of the leadership abilities that are required to be an effective President of the United States.
On top of all this, more Americans are killed in abortuaries EVERY DAY than were willed on 9/11 and Rudy's position on abortion is no different from Obama's or Hillary's.
Rudy would have done better than the 2008 or 2012 Repubs. I personally like him. He would do well as gov of NY, or US AG.
