Snap!
Good morning n’@!
Well...I’m surprisingly more organized this morning than I thought Id be:)
Re my “sudden job loss.” My coworker and I have been talking since the summer...we noticed back stock not being reordered, weird sales, and eventually the owner of the bldg “measuring” things (repeatedly). Our employers have always been very private and said nothing until a couple weeks ago (two weeks notice!). Rather than entrt into another 5yr lease (what the bldg owner wanted) they tried (quietly) selling the business (my co-worker and I would stay on and run day to day operations) and several deals fell thru. So they are (again) quietly selling inventory on eBay (along w/fixtures) and they are retiring (or finding limited parttime work elsewhere this winter...then they plan on moving to the carolinas). Sales across our “industry” were down the last couple years as well.
My co-worker (actually she has become a really good friend) and I were offered an opportunity to “buy” business name, inventory, etc but we didn’t have the $$$ (or the fearlessness to use home equity) to “stay employed.”
I’m in an odd spot...I ran the store when they travelled, made orders (if they were away), reconciled the register/credit card sales, did the night deposit (daily) and now I’ll be back to “paper or plastic” I fear. Oh well...I have some time on unemployment to figure out my next job.
