CICERO, N.Y. -- The Onondaga County sheriff's deputy who ran a red light and crashed head-on into a car this weekend in Cicero likely will not be ticketed, Detective Jon Seeber said, speaking for the sheriff's office.
Deputy Michael Ciciriello was on patrol, driving a 2010 Ford Crown Victoria east on Guy Young Road about 6:55 p.m. Saturday when he ran the red light and struck a 2012 Toyota Prius heading south on Brewerton Road, Seeber said. Ciciriello and the driver of the car, 59-year-old David Lekki, of Baldwinsville, were treated at local hospitals for minor injuries and released. Both cars were badly damaged.
"Clearly he was at fault," Seeber said of the deputy.
But he also said Ciciriello, 44, will likely not be ticketed, nor will he face work sanctions. The sheriff's office is self-insured, Seeber said.
"Even though he was not enroute to an emergency, he was still out there patrolling the area," Seeber said. "It was an accident."
Probably getting an award for taking out a Prius. In any event, both drivers have a responsibility to avoid an accident. I do believe that a suspension without pay is in order for the deputy.
Just for what it is worth, our cops have gotten pretty good at not doing that.
And let’s not forget Congressmen exempting themselves from Obamacare!
That was typo.
I stopped and spoke with one of the deputes today. He said someone complained about dump trucks making noise. They’re widening the street. I told him that when the shtf that I hope they realize it’s the government against us. He said he didn’t believe the government would be against us.
Then he went into the lack of respect the cops have. His exact words were “I don’t care what color they are they need to respect my authority.” I knew it was time to get on my bike and ride away.
Oh yeah, he also complained because they’re all going to have to start wearing body cams.
Don’t ever think they’re on our side.
