I was talking about this with my wife today.

The UVA rape hoax was so obvious.

I don't care what people think about frat boys, but no real "man" would stand by and allow a girl to be gang-raped on a glass coffee table.

ANY halfway decent man would have been absolutely OUTRAGED by his "brothers" doing anything like that.

And fists would fly over it. Guaranteed.

“I don’t care what people think about frat boys, but no real “man” would stand by and allow a girl to be gang-raped on a glass coffee table.”

When I attended college in the 1970’s I never heard about a rape or gang rape at a fraternity house. I did hear about rapes and gang rapes in the dorms. I did hear about mature progressive grad students luring naive freshman females to their off campus apartments, plying them with drugs and having their way with them. I heard about minority minority athletes enjoying the white female population. I was very aware of very leftwing married middle aged tenured full professors hitting on female undergraduate students at private counseling sessions. Finally, most of the reported rapes of females students on campus, and in apartments near campus, were committed by young men from the low income community located next to the college campus. Come to think of it, most of the other crime (break-ins, robberies, assaults) in and around campus were perpetrated by members of that community.

I agree rape was not part of the fraternity culture. I never heard any fraternity member talk about rape being a good thing or hinting a group should take advantage of an inebriated female. It was my observation one night stands were infrequent, but consensual when they happened. Several times I was propositioned by females at the fraternity parties so I know for a fact there were female students who went to fraternity row expressly for the purpose of a casual romp in the hay with someone they barely knew or didn’t know. In those days most sex on campus occurred in steady relationships over months or even years. The fraternity men I knew would not have permitted the type of incident alleged to have happened at the UVA fraternity.

Finally, if rape and sexual assault is a major problem on campus, progressives should be endorsing proven methods of stopping it. Reinstitute single sex dorms with curfews and house mothers. Limit visitation with members of the opposite sex to public parlors. Put the professors and administrators to work chaperoning evening parties and social events. Eliminate drugs and underage drinking from the campus and fraternity houses. Prohibit students from living off campus and don’t allow students to bring automobiles to school. Let them learn to be good progressives by using public transportation. Report rapes by athletes to the authorities for prosecution and take away their scholarships when accused of sexual assault. Fire the lecherous professors. Take fellowships and grants away from the predatory grad students. Require attendance at Sunday worship services. Do all of these things and sexual assault will be virtually non-existent within the student population.

As to how to deal with the off campus sexual predators . . . .
