I have in the past, I just could not justify the cost of the subscription because I spend very little time in the car now when he is on..
Yeah. He’s out there now. I used to like hearing him from time to time. Now it’s hard to listen. He’s got extreme ignorant libertarian views. Now it borders on nutty.
Yep. He’s a nutcase. I know other folks who stopped listening to him as well when he started losing it. Heck, I used to go to his web site all the time, subscribed to newsletters, etc. I bought CDs of his “Road to Independence,” about the founding, which is really good. Still listen to it every Independence Day. But he has, generally, lost it.
I don’t actively listen to him, but I do have an XM radio in my bedroom that stays on all night, and I hear him occasionally. I think he’s trying to out-nutcase Michael Savage.
I miss Quinn and Rose, who used to be on XM Patriot.
6 months is a doubling of the original 3 months they used to offer - probably a sign that they aren't as popular as they hoped to be.
I did until he went Ron Paul nuts and vicious about it, too.
Mike Church was once my favorite talk show host, he’s funny as all get-out but I can no longer tolerate him.
Ron Paul is great in many areas but he is too dangerously pacifist for my likes.
I dropped Sirius and found Mark Levin— I haven’t missed Church and it has saved me money.
I turned him off ages ago — didn’t take long to realize he was, as y’all say, a nut. There’s plenty to listen to on Sirius XM conservative talk or especially Radio Classics (a world of drama I hadn’t experienced before). I especially love listening to Bauer and Rose on the Patriot on Sundays,
If I want nutty nutcase, I can find Savage on the AM dial and save the subscription fee.
I download podcasts of personal interest and listen to those on my commute which varies from13 min to one hour for 10 miles.
I could never stand to listen to him, but my husband would listen on his way home from work. He would come home so agitated I didn’t want to be around him and I pleaded with him to stop listening, and he did.
I’ve kept it. I travel a lot with my job. My 2012 GMC has 182,000 miles since I bought it new. My next truck will not be GM but I will be sure to keep Sirrius/XM. It’s about fifty cents a day. I listen to Patriot channel most of the time with the ocassional c-span when there’s a hearing I want to listen to. Mark Levin is delayed in OKC so I also get to hear him earlier. Love listening to Andrew Wilkow.
But paying for radio, especially now when I spend very little time in the car, no way. But I see their ads on TV and it shows people in the car going crazy, like they're on drugs or something. Very unrealistic. Who goes bonkers listening to a radio you have to pay for? I admit I don't know much about it, but if pay-for-listen radio has to advertise on TV to get subscribers, I predict they are headed out of business. Just saying'....
I really can’t listen to him. First of all I can’t take his gravelly voice and you are right he says some wacky things. I haven’t listened to him enough to really judge the content of what he says.
A very good show on Patriot is Bauer & Rose, sadly they are only on on Sundays, around noon time, so I never get to hear to much of them, but they are very good. Smart and amusing.
I tell you, the best show in the AM drive time is the Fresh Air rerun on the NPR station (it’s close to the Patriot station). If Terri Gross doesn’t have some lefty loon on the show is very good. If she’s got a lefty loon on I just don’t listen.
If you are in your car really early, before 8 on Fridays they also have a very cute quiz show on that station.
I used to look forward to his show on the way to work, and yes, I did renew my subscription after 3 Mo. But now, Mike gets going on his adoration of saints and starts the Foghorn Leghorn rants too often. When he stated that st. Peter wrote the Book of Revelation a couple of months ago, it showed his ignorance. I changed the channel lineup in the morning and don’t miss his blather.
Yes I listen. He often has interesting historical points to discuss and good guests. But sometimes he gets so far out there I yell at the radio and go over to AM talk. I love Sirius. Listing to Breightbart News Saturday on Patriot via i-Pad app right now. As far as I am concerned satellite radio is great. I will not be without it again.
The conspiracy theorist is me sometimes wonders if people like that aren’t put on the air to portray “the right” as nut jobs.
I’ll listen to him every once in awhile, if my rental car has trial sat radio.
I didn’t renew the subscription after the trial period ran out on my personal vehicles. I’m sure there are some folks out there who love it and would pay anything to get it. But to me, It’s just not worth it.
When I get in a rental car with trial sat radio, I only ever program five channels: 70’s, Outlaw Country, Bluesville, Laugh USA and Patriot. I would value those 5 channels at about a dollar a month, and still feel like they should be free, like radio should be.
The primary killer as to why I won’t pay for radio:
They *STILL* run stinkin’ commercials on those stations!
Interesting. I have an almost identical story.
My new company car has the 6 month of Sirius, and I discovered MC on Patriot in the mornings a few days ago and I initially liked him.
Then I was listening to the exact show you were talking about, and had the same reaction to that comparison.
It’s very telling that he’ll take an obviously liberal biased report, not question it and use it as a platform to talk about how horrible Americans are.
I’ve concluded that he’s another America bashing jerk who’s gone so far off the rails to the right, he’s circled the earth and come up on the left.
