We had more Saturn Vs. Nixon was not a fan of American exceptionalism.
As Inspector Harry Callahan would say “Yeah, right”.
NASA got 20 billion a year, but now Obola’s
importation of disease takes trillions,
and NASA is relegated to improving Moslem something or other.
Sad. Just sad.
So how’s that stopping moon landings working out, Gil Scott-Heron?
Maybe you had the problem misdiagnosed, eh?
We drove to Florida and watched the Apollo 16 launch. The video does not even do 1% justice to the actual event.
The ground vibrates and shock waves roll over your head as it breaks the sound barrier in a thunderous roar.
One of the huge problems that have to be overcome is the muscle loss and resulting bone loss from the 0g environment during travel and on the Moon’s 1/6g surface.
Then there is the gamma radiation that our atmosphere filters out.
This is why our next Lunar missions should be dedicated to sending a nuclear powered tunneling robot to the Moon.
It doesn’t have to be fast, just methodical, maybe just a few inches of hard rock a day. The only time it stops is when people arrive and need the nuclear power for energy.
Even the robot’s lander is cannibalized to provide pressure doors, reinforcing rod, walls, doors and ceiling for the tunnel. It can even seal the tunnel against microfissures, and insulate it with foam. Once it installs the pressure door, it can pressurize it, and heat it, to see how long the pressure and heat will last.
It will continue to work for several years in between manned missions, allowing astronauts to brings less habitat and more supplies and equipment with each mission, as well as staying longer.
