Zoe Quinn (an “indie game developer”) slept around on her boyfriend with a lot of video games journalists and media folk and then got her crappy text based video game “Depression Quest” oked by Steam for release. The boyfriend called her out on it, publishing numerous chat logs, leading many to conclude that the very “feminist” status that many women have in the video gaming community seems a bit hypocritical seeing as one of their main women might be engaged in a sex for promotion scandal.
Adam Baldwin dubbed the phenomenon #gamergate and it is mostly based on outrage against corruption in gamer journalism. As soon as that happened, the anti-gamergate journalists all published “Gamers Are Dead” type articles and many of the female figures ran around screaming about receiving death threats from 4chan trolls. The anti-gamergaters have also proclaimed that #gamergate is dead many times.
Here’s the core truth about #Gamergate: Gamers, and we’re talking leftists and moderates as well, are sick and tired of feminists demonizing the games they play. The journalists responded by calling all gamers sexist nazi basement-dwellers. This further exacerbated the anger of #Gamergate. It’s a fun phenomenon.
