My Marine and I were discussing how ridiculous obamacare truly is. Consider how you get it completely FREE if you make up to a certain amount of money, but if you make ONE PENNY over that amount, you don't qualify for a subsidy and you HAVE to buy it. Imaging trying to raise a family on something like $50K year - you barely get by - now you have to pay out $800 a month for insurance? (My numbers are just a guess)

Also, saw on tv yesterday: A construction company has 100 employees and pays a fair wage but offers an incredible insurance package to employees. That benefit is determined to be a Cadillac plan so the employer is charged a fine. He either has to drop that insurance or include that fine in his bids for future work, which would have him bidding against companies that DON'T pay as well or offer good insurance.

How did our brilliant SC not realize this would devolve into everyone having socialized medicine at some point? The architects of this monstroscity don't want it to work - they want to cause everyone to drop private insurance

Even the people getting it subsidised still have deductibles they have to pay.

If they are truly getting it for free, then it’s Medicaid. Which is awful.

Bingo. That is the end state, and it has NOTHING to do with health care. It has EVERYTHING to do with CONTROL.

And, if you go on Medicaid and have an assets (or come into any) the gov’t will come for its reimbursement.

They will wait till after you die to take your house.
