Today being Pearl Harbor provides the inspiration for the pick for today's feature: John Ford's classic Pacific theater World War II epic with conservative Republicans John Wayne, Robert Montgomery and Ward Bond. Also featuring Donna Reed a year before she became Mrs. George Bailey in "It's A Wonderful Life."

Great movie in black and white. The colorized version sucks. In the colorized version the naval officers and chief petty offices are wearing blue dungarees instead of khakis.

If they were going to show a John Wayne WWII movie, they shuold have showed "In Harm's Way". That one starts off with the Pearl Harbor attack ...

What a great cast ---

One of the BEST movies EVER!
We watched it on Vets Day - so superb. IMO one of the The Duke’s finest.
And almost all the head creative guys - Ford, Montgomery, etc. served our country in WWII....
My, how low we have sunk in Follywood.

An excellent choice, and one of my all-time favorite movies. May be the underrated Robert Montgomery's best, complete with the thousand yard stare and stance that came from actual recent military service.

There's just something about this film that stands the test of time, particularly if we're familiar with the history.

And if you're too young, Robert Montgomery was Elizabeth's dad, "Samantha" from the 60's television sitcom "Bewitched."
