This was always my favorite SNL skit, there is much truth in it.

Those of us that remember an America where we left our keys in the car, and never locked the front door and the windows were wide open, and you could trust the people that you dealt with during the day.

We could leave our bikes at the school overnight and in our front yards, our guns were on display in the living room.

People did take care of each other and a gas station might front you some gas, assuming that you would almost certainly be back to pay for it.
