Woods could have watched the dude burn. He didn’t.

He let him twist in the wind for a few days, and only then said something. It was too late, his sponsors dumped him in the interim.

His sponsors were going to dump him anyway. Period. Woods stopped the thing from really rolling down hill, and it was definitely picking up speed before Woods made his statement - one he didn’t have to make.

It wasn’t Woods job to save Zoeller from his own idiotic mouth, was it?

Woods could have just ignored the comment and moved on, but he ended it for him. What is more probable is that Woods looked at it as an ongoing distraction and ended it. Better to take the high road and let him off the hook than to ‘no comment’ the thing and let the press fill in the blanks.

Zoeller offed himself there. Nobody put a gun to his head or a mike to his mouth.
