There are a lot of wild turkeys out here-I see and hear them at a distance when I hike in the woods all the time-there is also no hunting allowed, even in season in this subdivision because there is livestock and horses all over the place.
On the way home yesterday about a mile from the driveway, 4 hens and a big gobbler-walked out of the creek bottom and across the road into the woods. I was only doing 20-the speed limit on this road-so I just stopped to let them walk right in right in front of me. They looked delicious, and probably know they are safe here from people like me who would prefer their delicious natural taste to those mass produced turkeys...
